Minister of Culture appoints Dina Amin as CEO of Visual Arts Commission

Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture, appointed Dina Amin as CEO of the Visual Arts Commission.  She will take the lead in implementing the ministry's vision towards the visual arts sector, as well as empowering practitioners in this field. Amin is a leading Saudi specialist in visual arts, both academically and professionally. She holds a bachelor’s degree in art and design history from Wellesley College, Massachusetts, USA, and has also attended a Design training course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During her distinguished career, spanning more than 20 years in international companies specialized in arts, she has held many leading positions in companies such as Philips, a leading auction house specialized in buying and selling arts and designs, and Christie's, which is one of the largest organizers of art auctions in the world. The Visual Arts Commission comes as one of 11 new cultural commissions recently launched by the Ministry of Culture to manage the Saudi cultural sector in its various directions and creative paths. The commission will manage and develop the visual arts sector in fulfillment of the Saudi Vision 2030 and directions of the Ministry of Culture through several key roles, including: implementing a sector development strategy, empowering talented practitioners, encouraging individuals, institutions and companies to produce and develop content, protecting intellectual property rights, providing educational and professional programs, encouraging investment in the field.
